The Big Picture
As the Planning and Procurement Specialist at Maui Brewing Co, you will be a key player in ensuring the smooth production of our diverse portfolio of locally made beverages. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, your role will encompass detailed planning of production schedules, strategic management of raw material procurement, vendor contract negotiations, and meticulous inventory level maintenance. Collaboration across various departments, including brewery, cellar, packaging, distilling, warehouse, and shipping teams, will be essential.
The Everyday View
- Forecast Analysis: Utilize forecasting tools to determine raw material needs, create production schedules, and provide vendors with raw material forecasts as needed. Identify areas for improvement or adjustment in current contract status and keep running status reports of raw material usages through production year.
- ERP Management: Create and publish production orders in the company's ERP system, making necessary adjustments based on changes in production schedules. Create new items, adjust and audit Bill of Materials, and ensure accurate allocation of materials.
- Procurement: Facilitate and fulfill purchase orders for all necessary raw materials, such as malt, hops, chemicals, flavorings, extracts, small parts, equipment, packaging materials, pallets, and miscellaneous supplies. Ensure all item receipts of purchase orders are accurate in pricing and quantities.
- Shipping Coordination: Efficiently coordinate the inbound shipment of materials to guarantee timely delivery. Strive to secure the most favorable freight costs and optimize overall shipping expenses.
- Inventory Management: Conduct weekly and monthly inventory cycle counts, minimize potential shrinkage, and manage inventory across multiple warehouses, including third-party storage facilities, for tracking purposes.
- Process Oversight: Maintain and oversee production processes to ensure alignment with the ERP system.
- Coordination: Collaborate with departments like Brewing, Cellar, and Packaging to ensure production targets are met. Communicate pertinent production updates or roadblocks affecting timelines. Work with the Quality team to validate new raw materials.
- Professional Development: Attend workshops, review publications, network, and participate in community events to enhance career knowledge.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze inventory adjustments trends and production roadblocks to create systems that improve the efficiency of brewery operations.
- Be a team player and able to interact with all levels within the organization.
- Adhere to and enforce all applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Other tasks as needed.

- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment reference, and background check.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Brewery Production Planning and/or Procurement.
- Preferred experience in the Beverage Alcohol or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
- Experience in a production brewery is a significant advantage.
- Bachelor's degree or experience in a related field.
