MTU America, Inc. develops engines for a variety of vehicles including large ships, heavy agricultural and rail vehicles as well as other various industrial applications. As the Diesel Engine Assembler, you will be responsible for preparing engines for test bench by installing piping, fixtures, wiring and/or electrical components.
What We Are Looking For:
- Associate degree in a mechanical, engine or automotive trade school
- OR 3 years of experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment also accepted
- Knowledge of:
- Manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
- Engine control systems, design, assembly, and function
- Ability to interpret control plans, blue prints, build documents, schematic drawings, layouts, documents regarding engine assembly and testing and quality requirements
- Basic troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Basic math skills
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel

What You’ll Do As A Diesel Engine Assembler:
- Position and align test components to the engine to prepare the engine for test bench installation
- Fasten and install piping, fixtures, wiring and/or electrical components to the engine to prepare the engine for test bench
- Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies
- Maintain parts and components pertaining to the test bench
- Inspect, operate, and test completed engines using a dynamometer, to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer specifications
- Learn, interpret and understand characteristic differences between engine models
- Learn, interpret and understand the interactions between the engine and the test bench
- Identify and reduce non-value added work
