A leading international professional services organization is seeking a Business Development Industry Specialist to join its Marketing & Business Development function. This role will support multiple industry-focused teams and work closely with senior leadership to enhance market visibility, strengthen client relationships, and drive strategic growth initiatives.

Position may be based in New York City or Washington DC and will offer exposure to complex, high-impact client work across domestic and international markets.
Role Overview
The Business Development Industry Specialist partners closely with industry leaders, senior practitioners, and marketing colleagues to execute industry-specific business development and profile-raising initiatives. The role also supports cross-functional teams and firmwide strategic projects as needed and reports to a senior Business Development leader aligned with the relevant industry group(s).
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior industry leaders and business development stakeholders on marketing, client development, and growth initiatives
- Develop a strong understanding of assigned industries, including client business drivers, market trends, and competitive dynamics
- Support the execution and tracking of industry business plans and cross-disciplinary initiatives
- Evaluate and manage participation in external conferences, sponsorships, and speaking opportunities
- Coordinate firm-hosted events in partnership with an internal events team
- Assist with strategic client proposals and preferred provider submissions across practice areas
- Prepare and manage submissions for industry and professional rankings and directories
- Partner with marketing colleagues to develop integrated branding and visibility campaigns, including digital and social initiatives
- Create and maintain industry-focused marketing materials such as presentations, experience summaries, biographies, and web content
- Oversee the production of industry newsletters and internal/external communications
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, marketing, or client relations, preferably within a law firm
- Prior experience supporting industry-focused initiatives is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with structured business development and proposal processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong project management skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CRM or marketing databases is a plus
- Self-directed, collaborative, and adaptable in a fast-paced setting
Compensation & Benefits
- The anticipated base salary range for this role is $80,000–$110,000, with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and work location. A discretionary annual bonus may be offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
