The Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition leads Mattr's recruitment function by driving strategic talent initiatives across the organization in support of attracting and retaining talent. This pivotal role demands a dynamic, collaborative and passionate leader who can develop and execute talent acquisition strategies, foster a culture of inclusion, and ensure the attraction, onboarding and retention of top-tier talent as aligned with Mattr’s growth objectives. This position is accountable for overseeing a talented team of recruiters and an Onboarding Specialist.

This position is based near or at one of Mattr's production sites or offices, with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements, and requires the ability to travel (up to 30% in the first year) in support of recruitment and onboarding initiatives.

High Level Overview Of Accountabilities

Strategic Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Leads the development and implementation of the full-cycle recruitment and onboarding strategy for Mattr
  • Manages and creates relationships with external partners, vendors, colleges and universities, etc. to supplement internal recruitment efforts.
  • Integrates DEI principles into all talent acquisition processes, ensuring diverse candidate pools and equitable hiring practices.
  • Equips HR Business Partners and Recruiters with necessary tools to support and relay effective Total Rewards management, benefits information and best practice questions/competencies
  • Strengthens employer branding efforts
  • Supports establishment of key competency/skills/leadership capabilities consistently required amongst Mattr's future and current leaders and driving such competencies across the organization
  • Drives development of clearly defined, consistent and effective onboarding program in consultation with division HR Leadership
  • Full-cycle recruitment for executive level roles

Technology, Process Improvement & Compliance:

  • Ensures process compliance is always followed, and act as a role model to others in the team
  • Works with key stakeholders to create and build consistent recruitment and onboarding policies, practices, and processes across Mattr - Working across functions with peers in various divisions to ensure collaboration of shared goals
  • Collaborates with HRIS team to develop and enhance recruitment systems/tracking mechanisms
  • Uses analytics and KPIs to inform strategic decisions and continuous improvement
  • Creates and track updates to various recruitment/promotion templates
  • Analyzes stay and exit interview data in support of adjusting and/or creating programs to enhance the employee recruitment and onboarding experience and effectiveness

Leadership and Relationship Management:

  • Develops strong, positive, and trusted relationships with leaders within the organization and external parties
  • Partners with leaders to learn about their respective areas, specific needs and gaps with a view to helping them achieve their business goals
  • Engages with clients and team to advise, consult, and strategize on challenging openings - presenting options and coaching them on what a best-in-class recruitment experience looks and feels like
  • Proactively obtains client feedback and assess client satisfaction
  • Builds strong partnerships with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and deliver tailored recruitment solutions
  • Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing recruitment team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Skills And Attributes

  • Minimum of 15 years in progressive Human Resources Leadership roles
  • Ability to travel up to 30% across Canada and the US
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in strategic based recruitment
  • Proven experience effectively leading teams and overseeing multiple functions
  • Strong financial, HR, HRIS and business acumen
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and ability to understand, manage, oversee and build recruitment budgets
  • Experience building and overseeing Company-wide projects and initiatives, such as full-scale onboarding and pre-boarding programs
  • Proven ability to build and scale recruitment functions in complex, fast-paced, multi-entity environments
  • Innovative and solutions-oriented, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Highly collaborative, critical thinker
  • Fulsome understanding of all HR elements, including HRIS systems, payroll requirements, legislation across Canada and the US, full-cycle recruitment and onboarding
  • Customer-first mindset
