What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Receiver/Loader position at Mattingly Cold Storage?

Back up Support: Warehouse Employee
Shift: 4:00 pm-12:30 am
Job Summary: The Receiver/Loader is responsible for counting the freight received and shipped. This responsibility includes:
A. Counts compared to inbound receipt / outbound order copy.
B. Identifies and reconciles count variances by making notations on the inbound receipt / outbound order copy.
C. Either loads and or unloads trailers according to supervisor direction.
Specific Duties and Requirements:
- Shipping and Receiving: Unloads / loads trailers and verifies proper stacking and freight not being mixed on pallets (inbounds), one item to a pallet on all inbound loads unless otherwise instructed. Tape or stretch wrap pallet as required ensuring product stability. Identifies any receipt damage. Directs unloading personnel (lumper) how to configure pallets when receiving a floor load.
- Equipment: Ensure the safe operation of handling equipment assigned to this function.
- Scheduling: Loads and unload trailers as assigned by supervisor. Identifies start and stop time for each load handled.
- Storage: Prepares product for storage by instructing (lumper) to build pallet to proper height that conforms to rack elevations.
- Over, Short and Damage: Identifies and recovers any received or shipping damage consistent with Company policy. For example, all exposed products must be rejected while a tom case without exposed product can be taped and applied to orders (may deviate if customer identifies an alternate method.) Reports all shortages and overages to the supervisor.
- Safety, Sanitation, Security: Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly work area. Conducts operation in a safe and efficient manner. Identifies to supervisor any situation that may violate our security practices.
- Paperwork: Processes all receiving and shipping documents promptly. Turns paperwork into shipping and receiving office immediately after completion.
Qualifications:
- Experience or Training required: 1-year previous experience as forklift operator.
- License or Certificate Required: Forklift operator certification
- Mandatory Job Requirements: The requirements that an individual must absolutely possess to perform the essential functions of the job.
