About the Role:
Matthews Motors is seeking a Commercial & Industrial Painter with experience in large-scale painting applications — including trucks, trailers, utility bodies, and heavy equipment. This is a hands-on role in a production-focused environment, working in one of our three industrial-grade spray booths (up to 80 feet).
You’ll be responsible for preparing, priming, and coating metal surfaces using industrial paints and protective finishes, delivering high-quality results that stand up to the demands of fleet and field use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply industrial-grade primers, urethane topcoats, and corrosion-resistant coatings using HVLP and airless spray systems
- Prep surfaces through grinding, sanding, masking, and rust removal
- Paint full vehicles, trailers, and equipment bodies in 2–3 stage systems
- Perform minor bodywork or filler applications as needed
- Mix paints to match manufacturer specs or customer brand colors
- Operate in large-scale booths and control curing cycles as required
- Inspect finished products for coverage, finish quality, and durability
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and OSHA standards
- Maintain spray equipment and keep work area clean and organized
What You’ll Be Painting:
- Class 3–8 trucks and cab chassis units (mainly the Bodies)
- Semi-trailers, dry vans, flatbeds, and dump bodies
- Heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, cranes, tanks, etc.
- Utility bodies, tool systems, lube skids, and frames
- Rust repair and spot touch-ups on steel or aluminum surfaces
Work Schedule & Environment:
- Monday–Friday, full-time
- Climate-controlled indoor paint booths
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- All PPE and equipment provided
Pay & Benefits:

Requirements
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in commercial or industrial painting (automotive, trailer, or equipment preferred)
- Strong understanding of surface prep and application techniques
- Experience with HVLP, airless, or electrostatic spray systems
- Ability to read work orders and follow standard operating procedures
- Comfortable working in PPE, with exposure to paint fumes and solvents
- High attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality
Preferred but Not Required:
- Certification in industrial painting or coatings (e.g. NACE, SSPC, PPG)
- Welding or fabrication skills
- Forklift or equipment operation experience
Salary : $15 - $22
