What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Equipment Operator / General Farm Laborer position at Matthew Gilbertson?
We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop production season for wheat, soybeans, canola, peas, and lentils, performing all tasks associated with growing these crops. Duties include preparing fields for planting; attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; and operating tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation equipment, and other farm machinery. Employees will engage in planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting activities; fertilize and spray crops, including applying fertilizer or pesticide solutions using hand sprayers; and load or unload crops and materials manually or with conveyors, forklifts, transfer augers, or hand trucks. Additional duties include loading hoppers and conveyors using forklifts, augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks; adjusting and operating equipment controls; monitoring machinery for malfunctions; driving farm semi-trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools; performing routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs; and recording agricultural data as required. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
