Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buried Drop Technician to join our dynamic telecommunications team. Responsibilities
- Perform excavation, trenching, and burying of fiber optic cables and telecommunication lines using heavy equipment such as excavators and bucket trucks
- Install buried drops according to schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications for residential and commercial properties
- Conduct fiber splicing and testing to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance
- Use hand tools, power tools, and computer networking equipment to complete cabling and infrastructure setups
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to telecommunication systems
- Climb poles or structures safely when required for line work or troubleshooting low voltage systems like LAN (Local Area Network) Ethernet connections or telephony lines
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including installation logs, test results, and safety inspections
Experience
- Proven experience in field service roles within telecommunication or construction industries
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, excavators, or trenchers
- Knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and telecommunication cabling standards
- Familiarity with electrical systems, low voltage wiring, LAN Ethernet networks, WAN (Wide Area Network), and IT infrastructure components
- Ability to read schematics, technical diagrams, and blueprints accurately
- Strong skills in using hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment for construction-related tasks
- Prior experience working with network infrastructure including Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and electrical wiring is highly desirable
