Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas
- Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, sanitation, and organization of living spaces and common areas
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease in settings such as group homes or assisted living facilities
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, patient monitoring, and dementia or memory care best practices
- Certification in CPR and First Aid to respond effectively during emergencies
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and HIPAA privacy standards
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
lifts - Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, and families
- Compassionate caregiving approach combined with patience, attentiveness, and respect for individual dignity
