3D Animator & Renderer

About this role: 

We’re looking for a highly skilled 3D Animator & Renderer to join our Creative/Design team. This role sits inside MATTE’s growing 3D discipline, partnering closely with Creative, Experiential, Content Production, and Post to bring conceptual worlds, environments, products, and motion design to life.

This is a hybrid creative–technical role with a strong emphasis on photoreal rendering, motion execution, and craft excellence across pitches, client work, and internal IP.

You’ll work on projects ranging from experiential environments to campaign imagery, motion assets, worldbuilding R&D, stage visuals, and high-quality pre-visualization for complex productions.

3D Animation & Motion:

• Execute high-quality 3D animation across objects, environments, typography, and simulated elements.
• Develop motion tests, camera animations, style frames, and animated sequences for pitches and productions.
• Translate creative direction into dynamic, intentional motion that reflects MATTE’s visual tone and experimentation.
  
  

Rendering & Visual Craft:

• Produce photoreal or highly stylized environmental renders using industry-standard rendering engines 
• Create lighting, texturing, shading, look dev, and atmospheric treatments that elevate concepts into polished environments and assets.
• Deliver pixel-accurate output ready for Post and Content Production teams.
  
  

Worldbuilding & Visualization:

• Produce previsualization, environment layouts, and spatial representations for experiential work (events, installations, retail environments, scenic builds).
• Support mood films, pitch decks, and R&D explorations with high-impact visualizations.

• Work collaboratively with Experiential and Production to ensure environments and assets are buildable, realistic, and aligned with creative intent.

Collaboration & Cross-Team Partnership

• Partner closely with Creative Directors, Designers, Strategists, and Producers from brief through final delivery.
• Translate creative ideas into actionable 3D execution plans.
• Support timing, scoping, and feasibility conversations with Production and Post.

What you will bring:

• 3–5 years of experience in 3D animation, rendering, or motion design (studio, agency, or production environment preferred).
• Fluency in Cinema 4D, Houdini, Blender, and Unreal Engine.
• Strong rendering experience in Redshift, Octane, Arnold, or similar. (fluency in Depence is a plus)
• A portfolio demonstrating photoreal rendering, animation craft, and worldbuilding sensibility.
• Strong understanding of lighting, texturing, shading, simulation, and environmental design.
• Experience collaborating with creative leads, producers, and mixed-discipline teams.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment balancing speed with quality.
• Experiential visualization experience (preferred but not required).
• Ability to work 4x days per week in the office (Monday-Thursday), Fridays remotely.

Compensation: $85,000-$100,000/year
