Matte & Dewey is a one-of-a-kind makeup bar reimagining how people experience makeup. We offer signature looks from a curated menu, delivered in under 40 minutes. Think a blowout bar—but for makeup. We focus on routine-ready skin, clean technique, and consistent results-not overly dramatic or trend-driven glam.
The Role
We’re building a roster of experienced freelance Makeup Artists (MUA / Senior MUA) who specialize in skin, work efficiently, and deliver polished results within a defined service flow. This is makeup service-focused role -- no product selling or retail quotas. This role is ideal for artists who value precision, pace, repeatable results and professionalism in a brand-forward environment.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver signature makeup looks from a curated menu within standard service times
- Perform strong to advanced skin shade-matching and foundation mixology
- Work confidently with cream and liquid foundations to achieve accurate, natural finishes
- Apply makeup with attention to undertone, texture and real-world wear
- Maintain high standards of sanitation, organization, and guest experience
- Support smooth bar flow and consistency across services
What We’re Looking For
- Professional makeup artistry experience (freelance, retail, studio, or set); formal training a plus but not required.
- Strong to advanced foundation mixology skills across cream and liquid formulas; backgrounds in complexion-focused editorial, corrective, or SFX makeup are a plus
- Comfort working efficiently without compromising quality
- A clean, modern aesthetic and strong attention to detail
- Reliability, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset

- Not full glam or transformation-based makeup
- Not custom, trend-driven artistry
