Welding Shop Foreman
Mattco Metal Works Inc. is a growing custom fabrication company specializing in structural steel, industrial platforms, custom metal fabrication, and heavy equipment repair. We are looking for an experienced Shop Foreman to help lead our fabrication team and oversee projects from start to finish.
This is not a repetitive production welding position. Every project is different and requires critical thinking, fabrication skills, and pride in producing high-quality work.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily shop operations and coordinate fabrication activities.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication details.
- Fabricate, fit, and weld structural steel and custom assemblies.
- Perform MIG welding (required) and TIG welding when needed.
- Operate fabrication equipment including band saws, press brake, shear, ironworker, CNC plasma table, grinders, and other shop equipment.
- Assign work to shop personnel and monitor project progress.
- Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and workmanship.
- Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and recommend practical solutions.
- Ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with training and mentoring less experienced fabricators and welders.
- Coordinate with management regarding material needs, scheduling, and project priorities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of fabrication and welding experience preferred.
- Strong MIG welding skills (required).
- TIG welding experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Experience fitting and fabricating structural steel and custom metal projects.
- Previous leadership or foreman experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead a team.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
Schedule
- Monday–Thursday: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday overtime available as workload requires.
