Tower Site Civil Construction Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile, rugged, and detail-oriented Tower Site Civil Construction Technician to join our telecommunications infrastructure team. This role is strictly focused on ground-level civil works and compound development—no high-climbing or tower-climbing is required. You will be responsible for turning raw land or existing compounds into fully functional telecommunications hubs by executing heavy equipment operations, trenching, conduit runs, basic electrical ground wiring, concrete prep, and complete site restoration.
Key Responsibilities
Heavy Equipment Operation & Trenching
- Proficiently operate excavators, skid steers, mini-excavators, and trenchers to clear sites, build access roads, and prepare compounds.
- Dig precise utility trenches to specified depths for power and fiber backhaul feeds, avoiding existing underground utilities.
Telecommunications Civil & Ground Works
- Install underground infrastructure, including specialized equipment pads, shelters, and generators.
- Lay out, assemble, and glue PVC, HDPE, and rigid conduit lines from utility drop points to equipment pads and tower bases.
- Install handholes, pull boxes, and telco vaults; pull mule tape and wire paths ready for carrier integration.
Civil Electrical Grounding
- Apply basic electrical and utility knowledge to lay ground rings, CAD-weld grounding wires, and install copper ground tethers around towers, fences, and equipment pads to meet strict engineering standards.
- Interpret site plans, construction drawings, and conduit schedules accurately.
Right-of-Way Clearing & Site Restoration
- Clear brush, trim limbs, and manage tree-line hazards using chainsaws and clearing equipment to maintain clean sightlines and safe access roads.
- Perform final grading, stone spreading (gravel compounding), landscaping, and erosion control to return the site to its target delivery state.
Logistics & Hauling (CDL Preferred)
- Safely load, tie down, and haul heavy machinery and site materials to remote tower locations using commercial utility trucks and trailers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 2 years of civil construction, excavation, or underground utility experience (telecom/tower site experience is a major plus).
- Equipment Mastery: Documented competency operating mini-excavators and skid steers in tight compound footprints.
- License: Valid Driver's License required; Class A or B CDL highly preferred for machinery transport.
- Certifications: OSHA 10-Hour and First Aid/CPR preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, travel frequently, work long outdoor shifts, and operate power tools safely.
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
Salary : $28 - $32
