Job Summary
The Senior Project Engineer I is responsible for leading the overall execution of the engineering for assigned projects or proposals. This position will monitor and coordinate the execution of engineering to ensure that they satisfy the contract scope and quality requirements. This role is the primary technical contact on the project with the client and at times can serve as the overall Project Manager on smaller projects.
Essential Functions

Supports the delivery of a quality product as well as maintaining the schedule to achieve overall project success for the project and client.
Manages Engineering input to support schedule development for individual and subsequent interdisciplinary planning.
Coordinates and monitors schedule updates and submittals.
Works with the discipline leads as needed to ensure they stay on schedule including those activities required of Engineering to support procurement.
Coordinates with clients, internal and external, and discipline leads to determine design codes and establish overall design criteria for the project.
Develops and communicates to the disciplines the Engineering Scope of Work and Project Engineering Plan.
Ensures the disciplines stay within scope and as-sold intent of the project, which includes items such as interpretation of scope, assisting in identifying budget deviations, determining potential for change orders, and coordinating the cost estimate / schedule impact with discipline leads.
Implements approved project changes and associated schedule impact for the project and communication of changes to the discipline leads.
Verifies discipline project quality processes are being followed.
Holds reoccurring design coordination meetings as needed with discipline leads to determine and address barriers, ensure inter-discipline coordination and that all discipline leads work in conjunction with one another.
Coordinates with project management, procurement, and document control to establish project specific or confirm standard vendor submittal documentation requirements and reviews.
Coordinates discipline field support and communication, and ensures proper, documented disposition of inquiries via the RFI system.
Oversees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures.
Oversees that the project is engineered in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
Reviews and provides engineering input in support of weekly and monthly project status reports.
Works with the project delivery team to deliver a quality product as well as maintain schedule and achieve overall project success for the project and client.
Works in conjunction with the PM to manage and communicate client expectations within terms of contract.
Actively participates in, and may lead, project review meetings.
Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in any engineering discipline from ABET accredited university required.
6 years of experience leading multiple disciplines including mechanical, structural, electrical and control systems in the execution of EPC Projects and Proposals.
Desired experience with engineered fixed equipment experience includes above ground storage tanks, and low temp (LNG, ammonia, etc.), bulk storage systems consisting of foundations, structural steel, and vessels.
Ability to understand client specifications, procurement, commissioning and start-up standards, documentation, practices, vendor data approvals, etc.
Strong management skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Overtime and travel will be required.
