MATRIX is seeking a highly business-oriented, and self starting, Project Manager to support their numerous projects at the Columbia Generating Station. This role will act as a key representative for all projects on-site, serving as the primary interface with the client.
The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial awareness, the ability to manage multiple complex scopes, and a working understanding of heavy rigging and lifting operations within nuclear facilities. This individual will ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with client expectations, while maintaining strict control over scope, cost, and change management.
This position is critical to ensuring success at Columbia Generating Station by bridging operational execution with client expectations. The Project Manager will play a key role in strengthening the clients partnership while driving safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery.
This role has the possible option to transition into full-time employment based on performance and project needs.
Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension – possibly temp to hire
Location: Columbia Nuclear Station, WA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Serve as the primary on-site representative for Barnhart projects, maintaining strong relationships with Entergy Northwest stakeholders
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, and contractual requirements
• Manage and track project scope, cost, and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and approvals
• Coordinate with Barnhart field teams, engineering, and client personnel to ensure seamless project execution
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and cost forecasts
• Identify risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies
• Support proposal development, scope clarification, and pricing discussions as needed
• Ensure compliance with nuclear site procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements
• Provide regular status updates and reporting to both Barnhart and client leadership
• Act as a business-minded decision maker, balancing operational execution with financial performance
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
• Proven experience in project management within power generation environments
• Strong understanding of project controls, including scope, cost management, and change orders
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships in high-stakes environments
• Working knowledge of heavy rigging, crane operations, or complex lifting activities
• Experience working in or around nuclear facilities or similarly regulated environments (preferred)
• Strong (clear) communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
• Ability to operate independently in a client-facing, decision-making role.
PREFERRED:
• Background supporting crane & rigging, heavy lift, or specialty transport projects
• Familiarity with nuclear plant processes, outages, and work planning
• PMP certification is not required, but formal project management training is a plus
