MATRIX is seeking QA/QC Manager who will oversee quality assurance and quality control for all logistics, crane, rigging, final setting, and connection activities supporting pharmaceutical equipment setting. This role requires strong knowledge of millwright and ironworker work, with an understanding of cranes, heavy lift operations, and construction quality standards. The QA/QC Manager will ensure that all work meets Barnhart’s standards, client specifications, and industry codes, while maintaining full compliance with pharmaceutical facility requirements.
Project Location: Lebanon, Indiana
DURATION: 18 months – with possibility of extension
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a site-specific QA/QC plan for logistics, rigging, and final setting activities.
- Ensure compliance with Barnhart procedures, Customer standards, and applicable industry codes (AISC, AWS, OSHA, etc.).
- Maintain inspection and testing documentation in accordance with client and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee inspections of steel connections, equipment setting, and equipment anchoring to verify conformance with drawings and specifications.
- Monitor crane and rigging activities for compliance with engineered lift plans.
- Validate that all welds, bolted connections, and critical alignments meet required tolerances.
- Maintain QA/QC records, inspection reports, nonconformance logs, and corrective action reports.
- Provide quality status updates and reports to Barnhart leadership and Customer representatives.
- Prepare turnover packages, as-built quality documentation, and close-out records.
- Identify and document nonconformances, coordinate corrective actions, and verify resolution.
- Support root cause analysis for recurring or critical quality issues.
- Ensure lessons learned are captured and communicated across the project team.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Safety Managers, and Planners to align quality activities with project schedule and execution.
- Attend project meetings and provide input on quality risks and mitigation strategies.
- Serve as the client-facing representative for all quality-related matters.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of QA/QC management experience in industrial construction, rigging, or millwright/ironworker environments.
- Strong knowledge of steel erection, heavy rigging, crane operations, and equipment setting quality standards.
- Familiarity with welding and bolting inspection requirements (AWS, AISC, or equivalent).
- Experience developing and enforcing site-specific QA/QC plans.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharmaceutical or advanced manufacturing construction experience.
- Prior Barnhart project or engineered heavy lift/logistics quality experience.
- CWI (Certified Welding Inspector), NDT Level II/III, or other relevant certifications.
- Experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of working in outdoor environments and industrial construction settings
- Ability to walk the site, climb scaffolding or ladders as needed, and oversee rigging operations in real-time
