SUMMARY
The Lead Automation Systems Technician
plays a critical role in the Production department by overseeing the assembly, wiring, and testing of industrial automation and robotic systems. This position ensures that all systems are built to specification, comply with safety and quality standards, and are delivered on schedule. On the production floor, the Lead Systems Technician leads project teams, taking ownership of execution and coordination. They also mentor junior technicians, support continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate closely with engineering and project management teams to resolve technical issues.

- LEAD SYSTEMS INTEGRATION & PRODUCTION EXECUTION
- Lead the assembly, wiring, and integration of industrial automation and robotic systems according to schematics and project specifications.
- Is the project lead for assigned jobs, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.
- Maintain accurate documentation for build processes, modifications, and system updates to game plans.
- PERFORM SYSTEM STARTUP, TESTING & TROUBLESHOOTING
- Perform system-level startups and troubleshooting to verify functionality and help resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to implement scope changes.
- DEVELOP TEAM CAPABILITY & SUPPORT TECHNICAL GROWTH
- Train and mentor junior technicians to build technical skills and maintain production standards.
- ENSURE SAFETY, QUALITY & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, industry standards, and company quality procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline production workflows and enhance system performance.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong understanding of industrial automation and robotic systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Hands‑on skills in panel wiring, system integration, and troubleshooting
- Leadership and team coordination abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities
- Working knowledge of safety and compliance standards (e.g., UL, NEC)
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems is a plus
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation or control systems assembly
- Experience leading or mentoring a team of technicians in a production environment
- Proficiency in electrical wiring, system testing, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with robotics and motion control integration
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus
