Preferred: Class B CDL; EPA 608; EPA 609; welding

Wage/Salary Range:

$25.00 - $38.00 per hour (D.O.E. and additional credentials)

Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Saturday Off or on-call

Sunday Off or on-call

Position Overview

Matrana’s Produce is seeking a skilled mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of our company fleet. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that our diesel trucks and refrigerated (reefer) units are safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, self-driven, and experienced in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and refrigeration units.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on medium duty trucks, reefer units, and MHE equipment
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain fleet vehicles according to safety and performance standards
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance (e.g., oil changes, brakes, battery checks, tire service)
• Conduct scheduled vehicle safety checks i.e. twice weekly
• Dismount, repair, and mount heavy truck tires
• Read and respond to driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) and repair requests
• Use diagnostic software (e.g., Jaltest) and tools to analyze and resolve mechanical issues
• Collaborate with the Facilities Manager on repair schedules and parts procurement
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Document completed work and maintain service records

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel engine maintenance
• Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
• Proficient in using power and hand tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and with a team

Preferred:

• Associate degree or technical training in diesel technology
• Advanced certifications in refrigeration or electrical systems
• Proficiency with computer-based maintenance software
