Matous Construction is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Project Safety Superintendent. The Project Safety Superintendent will supervise and oversee the implementation of the Matous Construction Safety program and OSHA policies to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of OSHA 30 training; OSHA Outreach Trainers (OSHA 500) Preferred
- Training specific to the scope of work, including, but not limited to, trench safety, confined space, fall protection, crane/rigging and equipment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as professional, full-time Safety Superintendent/Manager OR 10 years heavy construction experience may also be considered.
- Demonstration of construction-related safety knowledge.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct all safety related activity on the project.
- Ensure that all of the employees on the project are made aware of steps to take in the event of an accident and the location of first aid facilities.
- Routine inspection of the jobsite based on the type and complexity of the current work and shall be conducted at least four times per shift to eliminate unsafe acts and/or conditions.
- Provide timely correction of any observed unsafe conditions, practices, or violations.
- Provide safety training as necessary.
- Investigate all accidents and implement immediate corrective action. Comply with the insurance carrier in all accident investigation and reporting procedures.
- Report all injuries and accidents in a timely manner to the Project Management team.
- Ensure that the necessary Competent Persons are on site as required for the work at hand.
- Be responsible for the availability and proper use of necessary safety equipment including personal protective equipment and apparel for the employees.
- Coordinate safety activities with the Project Management team and take necessary steps to promptly implement safety recommendations or directives issued thereby.
- Attend special safety meetings held or sponsored by the Project Management team.
- Ensure that adequate first-aid supplies are available at the work site and that personnel are qualified and identified to administer first-aid as required.
- Be on the project at all times while work is in progress.
- Generate and maintain all safety related documentation such as inspection reports, accident/near-miss reports, safety meeting minutes, training records, Safety Data Sheets, etc.
- Provide safety program recommendations to Matous Construction management.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION AND HOURS:
Full-Time, Exempt – This is a 40 hour a week, full-time position. Days and hours of work are at minimum Monday through Friday, and you can expect to work normal field operations hours from 7AM to 4PM. Specific jobs may require hours to report in to work to change based on project needs. This could mean you could report in to work earlier, or you may have to stay later. Changes in work hours will be at sole discretion of direct supervisor. Position is based on completion of work, not hours worked. Some occasional weekend and after-hours work are required pending demands of the job and projects assigned.

Performance of this job requires Close vision and Distance vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be occasionally loud. The work is typically required on job sites which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel may be required to various job site locations to cover as needed.
