What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Activity Assistant position at Matlock Place Health and Rehabilitation?
Position Purpose: Assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating all recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with facility policy, the resident’s care plan, and as directed by supervisors.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- The Activities Assistant will assist the Activities Director in creating a monthly calendar of activities written in a large print and posted in a prominent location that is visible to residents and visitors.
- The Activities Assistant will coordinate and assist residents in getting to activity locations within the facility.
- The Activities Assistant will assist in conducting scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents.
The Activities Assistant will observe resident mood, behavior, and degree of involvement in facility activities and report any changes or concerns to the Activities Director.
The Activities Assistant will involve residents and families in planning activities program when possible.
The Activities Assistant will assist with conducting in room activities programs for those residents who benefit from one-on-one visits.
The Activities Assistant will assist with Resident/Family Council meetings as indicated.

Requirements:- a high school diploma or equivalent with related work experience is the minimum.
- Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing, follow instructions and direction, interact with residents of varying backgrounds and abilities, remain cheerful and calm under stressful situations, and work as a team member.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and exert up to 25 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Must have safe driving record. A copy of Division of Motor Vehicle Driving Record must be given to the Administrator.
- Must have strong customer service and hospitality skills as it relates to both residents and their families.
