SQL DBA- around 8-10 years of experience expectation
strong troubleshooter down to root cause (RCA); must be a 9/10 troubleshooter
Must be very strong with SQL Server Always On; good in troubleshooting performance issues
Must also able to set up Always On, understand and know how to do backups of databases and maintenance of Databases
Scripting skills with Powershell or other language a must
Must be able to take applications from one version to another
Must be able to upgrade SQL Databases from version 2016- 2022
Has to be able to use built in tools within SQL Tools; they dont use third party tools
soft skills are important so need good soft skills- SOFT SKILLS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT!!!
Must have good financial / banking background
Involved in incident calls/triage calls
Must have strong communication skills via phone and email; team documents in wiki
Want someone curious, not scared to ask for help and take ownership, but if they dont know the fix or the answer, must be able to say i dont know and go get the answer.
Must be able to work CT hours vs PT!
SQL Server Administration Skills including ability to install, patch, maintain logins/users/groups, space management, set up/maintain disaster recovery, and ability to troubleshoot issues.
5 years with SQL Server Administration. Participates in design, development and implementation of complex databases, often using new technologies. Viewed as the subject matter expert for the team. Manages multiple, moderately complex projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants or managers. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems.
