Job Title: Splunk Monitoring / Observability Engineer
Duration: 12-18 Months
Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid onsite 3 days per week)
Pay Scale: $65-70/hr W2 (Cannot subcontract or C2C)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Monitoring / Observability Engineer to support and enhance enterprise-scale Splunk platforms, with a primary focus on system stability, resiliency, availability, and operational metrics. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in highly regulated, always-on environments and is passionate about building observable, reliable, and recoverable systems. The Senior Engineer will work closely with infrastructure, operations, vendor partners, and business stakeholders to ensure banking services meet stringent uptime, performance, and customer experience expectations.
Responsible for:
• Log Analysis & Diagnostics
• Perform deep log analysis across all software, middleware, and backend systems to identify failures, anomalies, and trends.
• Leverage centralized logging platforms (e.g., Splunk) to troubleshoot complex, multi-system issues.
• Develop queries, dashboards, and alerts to proactively detect emerging problems.
• Use log data to inform root cause analysis, capacity planning, and stability improvements.
Monitoring, Metrics & Observability:
• Hands-on experience with Splunk for log analysis, dashboards, and alerting.
• Define, implement, and maintain meaningful operational metrics such as availability, latency, error rates, and transaction success.
• Build dashboards, alerts, and reports to provide real-time and historical visibility into ATM health.
• Partner with operations teams to mature observability and reliability practices.
Platform Stability & Resiliency:
• Lead root cause analysis for incidents, outages, and performance degradations.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce repeat incidents and improve platform robustness.
• Ensure production changes meet operational readiness, resiliency, and stability standards.
Incident Triage & Response:
• Serve as an escalation point for incidents.
• Perform rapid incident triage to assess severity, isolate faults, and drive resolution.
• Coordinate with operations, infrastructure, vendors, and application teams during active incidents.
• Lead post-incident reviews to identify systemic improvements and resilience gaps.
