Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Hardware / Product Safety Test Engineer to support the verification, validation, and compliance testing of electronic hardware products. This role is responsible for planning, developing, executing, and automating test strategies to ensure products meet functional, performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle — from prototype through production release.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with electronic hardware testing and a solid background in 60601-1 medical device safety compliance testing.

This role is responsible for planning, developing, executing, and automating test strategies to ensure products meet functional, performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle — from prototype through production release.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with electronic hardware testing and a solid background in 60601-1 medical device safety compliance testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for electronic hardware, including PCB assemblies, subsystems, and complete products
- Design, build, and maintain hardware test setups, fixtures, and test equipment
- Perform functional, electrical, performance, stress, and environmental testing
- Debug and troubleshoot hardware failures at the component, board, and system levels
- Collaborate with hardware design engineers to review schematics, layouts, and design changes from a testability and reliability perspective
- Develop automated test scripts and tools to improve test coverage, repeatability, and efficiency
- Document test procedures, test results, failure analysis findings, and corrective actions
- Support Design Verification Testing (DVT), Production Validation Testing (PVT), and manufacturing bring-up activities
- Assist with regulatory, safety, and compliance testing, including EMC/EMI, ESD, thermal, and electrical safety testing
- Provide recommendations to improve design robustness, manufacturability, and testability
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
- 3 years of experience testing electronic hardware (flexible based on overall experience level)
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, power systems, and embedded hardware
- Proficiency using standard lab equipment, including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic analyzers
- Power supplies
- Signal generators
- Digital multimeters (DMMs)
- Experience reading and interpreting schematics, PCB layouts, and datasheets
- Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 standards and understanding of differences between U.S. and EU compliance requirements
- Practical hands-on experience with product safety testing, particularly IEC 60601-1 compliance testing
- Familiarity with compliance test equipment such as:
- AC Withstand Voltage Testers
- HIPOT Testers
- Electrical Safety Analyzers
- Calipers
- Experience performing hardware debugging and root-cause analysis
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills
- Experience with test automation using Python, shell scripting, or command-line tools
- Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware interaction, and communication protocols such as:
- I²C
- SPI
- UART
- USB
- Ethernet
- Experience supporting manufacturing test development and production environments
- Knowledge of reliability testing, environmental testing, and failure analysis methodologies
- Exposure to regulatory standards including FCC, CE, UL, and IEC
