Position Summary
Matlab, Inc. is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Small Hoist and Forklift Operator to support manufacturing and material-handling operations. This hourly, non-exempt position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of small hoisting equipment and forklifts used to lift, transport, and position parts, racks, raw materials, and finished products throughout the facility. The role requires strict adherence to safety procedures, clear communication with team members, and consistent compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate small hoisting equipment and forklifts to safely lift, move, load, unload, and position parts, racks, materials, and equipment within production and warehouse areas
- Perform required pre-operational inspections of hoists, forklifts, and related equipment; promptly report unsafe conditions, defects, or malfunctions to supervision
- Ensure all loads are properly secured, balanced, and positioned prior to lifting or transport
- Safely transport materials to and from production areas, staging zones, and storage locations
- Communicate effectively with production team members to coordinate safe hoist and forklift operations
- Use approved hand signals, verbal communication, or other methods to guide load movement and traffic flow
- Follow all forklift operating rules, including speed limits, pedestrian awareness, and designated travel paths
- Conduct routine safety checks and assist with basic preventative maintenance of hoisting and forklift equipment, as assigned
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with Matlab, Inc. housekeeping and safety standards
- Accurately complete required documentation, inspections, and logs
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, PPE requirements, attendance standards, and quality expectations
- Comply with OSHA and all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and production needs
