Sandblaster

Position Summary

The Sandblaster is responsible for preparing metal surfaces for coating or painting by removing rust, scale, old paint, and other materials using abrasive blasting equipment. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare parts, components, or surfaces according to specifications.
• Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure proper cleaning and surface profile.
• Maintain and clean blasting equipment, hoses, and nozzles to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Properly select and handle blasting media appropriate for each job.
• Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to confined space and respiratory protection requirements.
• Move parts and materials weighing up to 60 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques or mechanical aids.
• Climb ladders and scaffolding as needed to reach all areas of the workpiece.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent contamination and ensure efficient workflow.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues to the supervisor immediately.
• Work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Assist with other production tasks as assigned.
