Job Responsibilities
- Teach through Mathnasium methodology and terminology, using prescribed teaching practices
- Actively encourage, motivate, and engage with students during the instructional session
- Correct student work and provide positive, constructive feedback
- Manage student behavior to create a positive environment that optimizes learning
- Communicate student needs to center leadership and instructional staff in a team-teaching environment
- Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teaching practice.
- Assist in non-teaching tasks, which may include cleaning, administrative assistance, or other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Passion for math and working with students
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Eagerness to learn and be trained
- Exceptional math competency through at least Algebra I
- Ability to balance various ongoing tasks
- All applicants will be required to take a math literacy test to demonstrate math proficiency, provide work authorization, and pass a background check.
Additional Info
- During the school year, our center is open Monday-Thursday 3:00-8:00 pm and Saturdays, 10 am-1 pm.
- We ask that Instructors are available to work for at least 5 hours each week. Scheduling is flexible, and we are more than happy to work with school and other work schedules.
- Instructors are paid from $12-$15/hour depending on experience, education, and math skills. There are opportunities for advancement into other positions- e.g., Lead Instructor.
