Job description:
Matheny Motor Truck Company is seeking skilled and experienced Emergency Vehicle Technician to join our Fire and Emergency Team. The successful candidate will be very detailed oriented, a true technician skilled electrician and mechanic. This person needs to be versed in fire pumps, valves, preferably foam systems and both 12 VDC and 120/240 VAC generators.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble Under dash harnesses, switch panels, circuit boards, and a variety of different electrical components
- Programming the lights from customers specs
- Troubleshoot 12V DC and 110V AC circuitry
- Test products to ensure performance to customers specifications
- Reading specs to make sure the trucks are built per spec
- Perform functionality checks on airhorns, sirens, light packages, flash patterns, door locks Etc.
- Identify and fix quality issues
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layouts with written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements
- Communicate issues or delays immediately to management
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Preferred 1-2 years of automotive electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
- EVT / ASE certification (or is willing to obtain certifications)
- Strong technical performance record
- Unrestricted CDL driver's license and clean driving record
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- Any manufacturer certifications from prior employment (EONE, Pierce, etc.) desired
- Must own and can use common hand tools and power tools such as drills, and screw guns
- Must have the ability to read, write, and perform mathematical computations at a level required for successful job performance
Physical Demands:
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing up and down ladders and scaffolding
- Ability to regularly lift and move 40 lbs. without assistance
- Ability to work with arms above head
- Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area.
