What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Sales Manager / Western Region Premium Culinary Equipment position at Matfer Bourgeat USA?
Matfer Bourgeat USA is the U.S. subsidiary of one of the world's leading manufacturers of premium culinary equipment. For more than 200 years, our products have been trusted by professional chefs, luxury hotels, restaurants, bakeries, and pastry professionals worldwide.
We are seeking a Regional Sales Manager who is genuinely passionate about professional kitchens — someone who builds authentic relationships with chefs and culinary professionals, and who knows how to identify and drive equipment projects from concept to close.
This is a high-autonomy role centered on building direct relationships with chefs, culinary directors, and kitchen professionals.
You will be the face of the brand in professional kitchens, identifying opportunities, supporting projects from concept to close, and creating demand through trusted relationships.
Distributor partnerships remain important to market execution, but the primary focus of the role is developing opportunities directly with operators and culinary professionals.
- Build genuine, lasting relationships with executive chefs, pastry chefs, culinary directors, and F&B managers at restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and hospitality groups.
- Identify and initiate project opportunities — new restaurant openings, kitchen renovations, hotel buildouts, culinary school partnerships — and shepherd them through to close.
- Conduct in-kitchen product demonstrations, hands-on training sessions, and consultative equipment reviews that reinforce your credibility with culinary professionals.
- Stay embedded in the culinary community — attend industry events, culinary competitions, food shows, and chef association gatherings to build presence and source opportunities.
- Maintain an active project pipeline: track opportunities, forecast accurately, and manage follow-through from first contact through order and post-sale.
- Collaborate with distributor partners to ensure smooth order fulfillment and market coverage — leveraging the channel as a support mechanism for the chef relationships you lead.
- Open new accounts and reactivate dormant customers, with a focus on growing direct relationships rather than passively managing existing ones.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and territory reporting.
- 3–7 years of experience in culinary equipment, foodservice, hospitality, or a related field — with a track record that includes meaningful chef and operator relationships, not just distributor or account management work.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and close project-based sales — you have experience identifying a kitchen project in its early stages and driving it through to a purchase order.
- A genuine comfort and fluency in professional kitchen environments — you can hold a credible conversation with a brigade chef about equipment, technique, and workflow, and they know you’re not just there to sell.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. You ask the right questions, listen actively, and match solutions to real operational needs
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently.
- Ability to travel up to 50% within assigned territory.
- Base salary: $75,000–$90,000
- Performance bonus opportunity (OTE: $85,000–$110,000)
- All business travel expenses covered
- High level of autonomy and territory ownership
- Growth opportunities with a respected global brand
- Collaborative and supportive team environment
You’ll represent a brand that professional chefs have trusted for over two centuries — which means the credibility to walk into any kitchen and be taken seriously. This is a role for someone who wants to build deep relationships in the culinary world, initiate meaningful projects, and grow a territory where your network and expertise truly matter.
