Overview
MEE is an independent testing laboratory that has a 30-year reputation working with companies to troubleshoot materials-related issues. Our customer base includes a wide variety of industries with a substantial focus on medical device manufacturing and materials.
We are seeking candidates with at least 5-10 years of industry experience in polymer engineering or polymer sciences to expand our characterization and testing capacity. This position would primarily involve analytical testing and characterization of polymeric materials. Applicants with sufficient engineering qualifications would additionally provide engineering consulting services, primarily in the field of failure analysis for non-metallic materials.
Typical Job Duties
• Support customer product development, manufacturing, and quality control through material characterization and identification
• Consult with customers on problems related to polymer material selection and formulation
• Evaluate product performance through failure analysis of industrial components
• Prepare formal written reports to effectively communicate results
Requirements
• College-level education in materials science, materials engineering, chemical engineering or related field of study from an accredited institution, with a specific focus on polymers.
• Industry experience with polymer characterization techniques, including FTIR, DSC, and TGA.
Additional qualifications that will set you apart
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in materials engineering with a focus on polymers
• E.I.T. or P.E. certification in materials engineering
• Education or industry experience related to failure analysis.
• Strong aptitude for technical writing and effective communication.
• An inquisitive mind and a genuine enthusiasm for problem solving.
Other Information
• This role will primarily be in a laboratory setting, but limited travel to local customer locations may be occasionally required.
• Work will require safe use of, or work in proximity to, toxic, flammable, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., solvents and acids).
• May work in areas where various PPE is required (e.g., steel toe boots, safety glasses, respirators, hearing protection, etc.)
