The Lead Crane Technician is a seasoned professional responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and modernization of various crane systems, including overhead, gantry, and mobile cranes. This role demands a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on crane equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety regulations.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, including motor controls, wiring, brakes, and gearboxes.
- Modernization Projects: Lead or assist in upgrading and modernizing crane systems to enhance functionality and safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and HMI regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior technicians, providing guidance and training to foster skill development and ensure quality workmanship.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients, addressing concerns, explaining technical information, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical or mechanical fields preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in crane maintenance and repair, with experience in overhead and mobile crane systems.
- Certifications: Valid driver's license; certifications in crane inspection or maintenance are advantageous.
- Skills: Proficient in reading technical manuals and schematics; strong problem-solving abilities; excellent communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform tasks requiring physical stamina.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and industrial environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- May require travel to client sites and occasional overtime.
