Material Handling Systems seeks a Mid-Level Crane Technician who is responsible for performing intermediate-level inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical crane systems, adherence to safety and compliance standards (OSHA, CMAA, ANSI, NEC), and the ability to work independently while supporting entry-level technicians. The Mid-Level Technician bridges the gap between entry-level learning and senior expertise, serving as a mentor-in-training while developing advanced diagnostic and leadership skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on overhead cranes and hoists.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
· Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
· Complete service reports, inspection checklists, and documentation in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
· Assist in load testing, calibration, and commissioning of crane systems.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA, CMAA, ANSI, and company safety procedures at all times.
· Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe working condition.
· Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to entry-level technicians.
· Collaborate with lead technicians and service managers on complex projects.
· Communicate professionally with customers, ensuring clarity on work performed and recommendations for corrective action.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED.
· 2–4 years of experience working with overhead cranes, hoists, or heavy industrial equipment.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical systems (480V, control circuits, VFDs, pendant controls, etc.).
· Familiarity with OSHA, CMAA, ANSI, and NEC standards related to crane operations.
· Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work at heights safely using fall protection.
