MATERIAL (Materials Marketing) is a bespoke stone, glass, and tile company with showrooms across the country, including our headquarters here in San Antonio. We source and hand-craft natural stone, custom fireplaces, and architectural elements for high-end residential and commercial projects, partnering with leading designers to bring one-of-a-kind spaces to life — from quarry to hearth. We're looking for a detail-driven CAD Designer/Drafter to join our Design & Engineering team. This isn't drafting for pipes and machinery — you'll be turning architects' visions and customer sketches into precise, buildable shop drawings for hand-crafted architectural stone: fireplaces, columns, staircases, fountains, and custom stone details that become the centerpiece of a home. Every drawing you produce moves directly from your screen to a stone fabricator's saw, so your accuracy and eye for proportion have a real, physical impact on the finished space. What You'll Do

• Transform customer plans, specifications, sketches, and photos into detailed shop drawings of cut stone elements using CAD and e-templating tools.
• Design and detail fireplaces, columns, staircases, and other custom architectural stone features, ensuring every profile and piece aligns perfectly.
• Generate cut lists, piece detailing, and shop ticket packages that guide our fabrication team from drawing to finished stone.
• Review CAD drawings for accuracy, checking that scope, alignment, and piece details match approved design and setting plans.
• Format every drawing to the Company's drafting standards — title blocks, line weights, colors, and layout conventions.
• Partner closely with the Sales team to resolve design questions and keep projects moving smoothly.
• Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure a clean hand-off from drawing to fabrication.
• Bring strong 3D modeling skills to the table, visualizing complex stone assemblies before they're ever cut.

What You Bring

• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Autodesk Suite; strong 3D modeling ability.
• Ability to read and fully interpret architectural and structural design drawings.
• An eye for detail — precise alignment, proportion, and profile matching matter in this work.
• Strong communication skills; comfortable working with both Sales and Manufacturing teams.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 3 years of drafting experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with CNC programming/CAM software is a strong plus.
• A flexible, adaptable mindset — ready to grow with new tools and techniques as the craft evolves.
• Valid driver's license required.
