Benefits:
- Hourly ($20-25/hour) based on experience, level of education, and other certifications.
- Supervision by Board Certified Behavior Analyst that meets BACB requirements for Supervised Independent Fieldwork
MATCH Disability Services seeks candidates who have worked with children and/or people with disabilities to fill behavior technician positions in its summer program for adolescents and teens. MATCH programming occurs in natural environments within the dynamics of a group ranging from three to nine participants plus their support staff. Behavior technicians support participants according to participants’ individual goals, needs, and interests.
Summer activities go beyond the walls of the MATCH office into the community. Programming is rich, creative, and evolving based on the goals and interests of participants. Anticipated summer activities include long-term art projects, day camping, field day, walks and hikes, visits to local cafes and shops, gardening, printing and selling original art, cooking and bake sales, and so on.
The ideal candidate is highly dependable, open to feedback and learning, and thrives when working in a group setting. They have experience accommodating disability and knowledge or curiosity about neurodivergence. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, can quickly adapt to the needs of the group, and wants to expand their skillet in this field.
Job Description
Role and Responsibilities:
- Interact directly with clients to implement individualized service plan as written and directed by BCBA with children aged 12 to 16 with developmental disabilities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress by recording session notes and collecting data.
- Participate in mandatory 30 hour training
- Uphold best practices and the mission, vision, and values of MATCH Disability Services as outlined by the Staff Handbook
- Uphold professional ethics as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) RBT Ethics Code
- Effectively communicate schedule needs within the established standard timeframe to promote transparency, organization, and efficiency. This includes communication of emergencies and unforeseen scheduling needs.
- Follow and meet cleaning protocols, maintaining cleanliness and functionality to shared spaces during and after each shift
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Age 21 or older
- “Passing” background check
- Ability to complete a 30-hour training program designed by MATCH BCBAs.
- Works both independently as well as part of a team
- Empathetic and supportive with staff, clients and families
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and move around, get up and down from the floor or a chair and transition between different locations.
- Work with clients for extended periods of time, requiring stamina and endurance. This involves maintaining an active and engaged presence during sessions.
- Ability to see for the purpose of observing and responding to visual cues to the behavior of their clients, as well as reading laws and codes, rules and policies, and other printed matter.
- Must be able to physically intervene quickly to assist or protect a child (for example, run after a child, block a child from harming self or others, soften a child’s fall, provide hand over hand assistance for washing hands)
- Ability to implement crisis intervention techniques to manage challenging behaviors to ensure the safety of the individual and others.
- Must have the manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal speech levels in the English language
- Must be able to receive detailed information through verbal communication
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation. This includes verbal communication, active listening, and non-verbal communication to engage with clients and collaborate with other professionals.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to tolerate moderate to high-stress levels
- Ability to utilize quick body movements as indicated in the behavior intervention plan when interacting with individuals that may be displaying physically aggressive, self-injurious, or socially inappropriate behavior
