This position is responsible for managing the Borough's information technology systems environment.

Senior Enterprise Systems Administrator:
Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, post-secondary education or experience which provides the expertise required to perform effectively the functions of the position may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Three (3) years of experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position. Relevant experience includes performing work in an IT field, including collaborating with users to define needs, troubleshooting issues, and designing effective solutions, demonstrating proficiency in testing and implementing network and systems infrastructure, managing enterprise infrastructure, and providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support. Experience in installing and configuring software and hardware, training users, and creating support documentation is essential. Familiarity with project management, overseeing contractors, and coordinating with stakeholders is highly valued. Professional duties relevant to the work that will be performed may include analytical thinking, research and integration of new technologies while effectively communicating, translating and presenting technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
Current industry standard certification in Microsoft, Cisco and/or VMware preferred.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700, within ninety (90) days of hire.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.

- Manages the operations and maintenance of server and network infrastructure, LAN/WAN, storage, email, routers, switches, anti-virus systems, security card access system, proxy servers, firewalls, remote access, backups, and spam and web filters.
- Installs, configures, administers, maintains, and secures the Borough's VMware environment.
- Coordinates and performs cabling installations as needed to facilitate network infrastructure changes, additions or enhancements; maintains network infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless networks, intersite connectivity, and internet access for all Borough sites.
- Manages backup and recovery of all Borough data and systems, including file data, servers, email, and user data.
- Develops and implements deployment and maintenance standards for configuration of servers and storage.
- Provides oversight and functional direction of assigned contractor daily activities.
- Supports industry best practices; researches and recommends new technologies, standards, processes, policies, and procedures.
- Alerts appropriate department personnel in the event of emergencies, outages, and other conditions requiring response.
- Ensure projects have appropriate stakeholder involvement, include clear and attainable scopes, deliverables and timelines, and are well executed and managed.
- Provides on-site IT support for emergency response drills and incidents.
