What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Courier (Thousand Hour) position at Matanuska-Susitna Borough?
This position is responsible for operating a Borough vehicle to provide Borough-wide courier services to various Borough facilities, including libraries, recreation facilities, transfer stations, and other operational sites, as well as local businesses and partner agencies. Duties include picking up and delivering requested items and supplies, with occasional transport to Anchorage when needed.
Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.
C1 - C5 - DOEHigh School diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of work experience/employment. Relevant experience should be: professional experience as a courier and/or delivery driver with a clean driving record.
Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
- Pick up and transport parcels, packages, and other deliverables as assigned.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to track waiting and completed orders, accurately recording deliveries and pick-ups.
- Provide friendly customer service.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
