- Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned to Alaska State Standards, district curriculum, and Career and Technical Education program standards.
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in culinary arts, baking, food safety and sanitation, nutrition, kitchen operations, and hospitality management.
- Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and productive classroom and laboratory environment.
- Instruct students in the safe use, care, and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Integrate academic, technical, and employability skills into daily instruction.
- Develop and implement instructional strategies that address diverse learning styles and student needs.
- Assess student performance and maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, competencies, and program completion.
- Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications as appropriate.
- Maintain inventory, order supplies, monitor budgets, and ensure proper storage and rotation of food products and materials.
- Build partnerships with business, industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support student learning and work-based learning opportunities.
- Support student participation in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), competitions, leadership activities, and community events.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, district initiatives, and collaborative planning activities.
- Maintain compliance with district policies, safety regulations, and state/federal requirements.
- Knowledge of culinary arts, food preparation, kitchen safety, sanitation, and hospitality industry practices.
- Knowledge of instructional methods, classroom management, and student assessment practices.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, families, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to establish positive relationships and maintain a supportive learning environment.
- Ability to organize materials, manage resources, and maintain laboratory safety procedures.
- Ability to use technology to support instruction, communication, and recordkeeping.
- Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
- ServSafe Manager Certification or other industry-recognized culinary certifications.
- Experience with ProStart, FCCLA, SkillsUSA, or other career and technical student organizations.
- Experience developing partnerships with industry and community stakeholders.

Job Summary
The Culinary Arts Teacher provides standards-based instruction in culinary arts, hospitality, and food service operations. The teacher creates a safe and engaging learning environment that supports student achievement, career readiness, technical skill development, and preparation for postsecondary education and employment. This position will support multiple school locations in culinary arts labs in a variety of delivery methods.
