Job Description
Coordinates delivery of health care services to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Provides diagnostic and therapeutic patient care in Speech-Language Pathology as well as additional administrative/professional duties beyond the routine daily responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities / Job Function
- Assess and treat patients across the lifespan (pediatrics, adults, geriatrics) with communication and oral-pharyngeal disorders of functional or neurological origin.
- Perform and interpret Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and bedside swallow evaluations.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care for individuals with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing impairments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable goals; modify plans based on ongoing clinical reassessment.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and caregivers regarding evaluations, treatment goals, progress, and home programs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
- Uphold patient safety and clinical quality by adhering to institutional protocols and evidence-based practices.
- Manage time and resources efficiently to meet productivity and departmental expectations.
- Participate in professional development activities, including journal clubs, case presentations, and continuing education.
- Support department initiatives through mentoring, precepting, and contributing to educational and community outreach efforts.
- Foster a patient-centered environment focused on compassion, dignity, and individualized care.
- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Texas
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in inpatient and outpatient settings, with both adult and pediatric populations
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) required
- Proficient in conducting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and bedside swallow evaluations
