What are the responsibilities and job description for the Roofing Estimator position at Masterwork roofing?
As a Commercial Roofing Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating project plans, assessing costs, and preparing competitive estimates for commercial roofing projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare cost estimates
- Conduct site visits to gather project-specific information and assess job conditions
- Calculate labor, material, and equipment costs for commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, metal, etc.)
- Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Prepare and present bid proposals and change orders
- Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Track bid results and provide input for future estimating strategies
- Stay current with industry trends, pricing, and building codes
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as an estimator in commercial roofing or construction
- Strong understanding of various commercial roofing systems and installation methods
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficient with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam or similar)
- Excellent math, communication, and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with insurance and restoration projects
- Knowledge of local building codes and OSHA regulations
