JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Material Handler plays a key role in keeping production running smoothly by ensuring every work area receives the right materials exactly when they’re needed. This position supports efficient workflow through timely delivery and helps maintain accurate, well‑managed inventory levels.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Material Handling
- Coordinate, organize, and deliver materials and paperwork for all cut lists.
- Enter all manufactured parts into inventory with accuracy.
- Assess and fulfill material requirements across all manufacturing departments.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to each department’s designated point‑of‑use storage.
- Transport full waste barrels to staging areas and load them onto vendor trucks for pickup.
- Collect and move recycling from office and production areas.
- Deliver specialty materials to designated areas, including office locations.
- Relocate sawdust and waste trailers as needed to support production flow.
- Move finished product trailers within the shipping area as required.
Receiving
- Unload all incoming trucks (excluding lumber).
- Inspect received materials to verify condition and quality.
- Confirm accuracy of shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Enter all received materials into inventory with precision.
Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Maintain inventory areas and equipment in clean, orderly condition while following all safety regulations to reduce downtime.
- Sweep and clean warehouse spaces on a regular schedule.
Product Accuracy (performed throughout all duties)
- Visually inspect all incoming raw materials to identify defects or substandard quality; report issues to supervisor promptly.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts within assigned warehouses and material categories.
- Complete cycle counts as scheduled.
Safety (performed throughout all duties)
- Immediately report any safety concerns to a supervisor.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Adhere to Emergency Action and Hazardous Waste Contingency procedures.
- Participate in all required safety training.
Other
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Minimum:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
Preferred:
- At least 1 year of experience in inventory control.
- Minimum of 3 years of forklift operation experience.
- Possession of a commercial driver’s license.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Forklift Certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and applying written procedures and specifications.
- Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
- Basic computer skills for everyday operations.
- Competence in basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
