JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and strategic direction of the Human Resources function. This position serves as a key member of the management team and is responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and initiatives that support the organization's business objectives while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.


The Human Resources Manager oversees recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, training and development, performance management, compliance, and workplace safety programs. This role works collaboratively with leadership to foster a positive workplace culture, promote employee engagement, and maintain a safe, productive, and compliant work environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

Human Resources Leadership & Administration

  • Develops, recommends, implements, and administers human resources policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with company objectives and legal requirements.
  • Maintains and updates the Employee Handbook and other policy documents to ensure regulatory compliance and consistency in administration.
  • Partners with executive leadership to develop strategic HR initiatives that support organizational growth, workforce planning, retention, and employee development.
  • Advises management on employee relations matters, performance management, corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Ensures consistency, fairness, and compliance in the administration of company policies and work rules.

Recruitment & Staffing

  • Directs all recruitment and hiring activities for exempt, non-exempt, temporary, and internship positions.
  • Develops and implements effective recruitment strategies to attract, hire, and retain qualified employees.
  • Maintains relationships with staffing agencies, educational institutions, workforce development organizations, and community partners.
  • Oversees onboarding and orientation processes to ensure successful integration of new employees into the organization.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Works closely with company leadership, insurance brokers, third-party administrators, and benefit providers to develop, implement, and maintain competitive benefit programs.
  • Administers employee benefit plans and serves as a resource for employee benefit inquiries and education.
  • Evaluates benefits utilization, market trends, and employee feedback to recommend improvements to company benefit offerings.
  • Supports compensation administration and assists leadership with wage and salary recommendations.

Training & Employee Development

  • Identifies organizational training needs and coordinates development programs designed to enhance employee skills and performance.
  • Partners with department managers to establish training objectives and monitor employee progress.
  • Coordinates compliance-related training, leadership development, safety training, and other workforce development initiatives.
  • Promotes employee engagement and professional development opportunities throughout the organization.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, OSHA, and applicable state labor laws.
  • Stays current on employment law developments and provides guidance to management regarding policy and operational impacts.
  • Oversees required government reporting and recordkeeping functions, including EEO-1 reporting, workers' compensation administration, OSHA logs, unemployment claims, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts internal audits and reviews to ensure HR processes, documentation, and practices remain compliant and effective.

Safety & Occupational Health

  • Champions a culture of workplace safety and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Partners with the Safety Committee, management team, and employees to promote safe work practices and continuous improvement in workplace safety.
  • Supports compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assists with accident and injury investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and return-to-work programs.
  • Monitors workers' compensation claims, works with carriers and medical providers, and supports injury management processes.
  • Coordinates safety-related training initiatives and ensures required safety certifications and records are maintained.
  • Participates in safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Administers and supports company safety recognition and incentive programs.
  • Leads efforts to improve safety awareness, reduce workplace injuries, and promote employee well-being.

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Establishes and maintains professional, cooperative, and positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Investigates employee complaints, concerns, and workplace issues while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Supports initiatives that encourage employee engagement, retention, morale, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Promotes open communication and collaboration between departments and management teams.

Records, Confidentiality & Performance Management

  • Oversees the maintenance, accuracy, security, and confidentiality of employee records and HR documentation.
  • Ensures personnel records, attendance records, training records, performance evaluations, job descriptions, and other employment-related documents are properly maintained and current.
  • Oversees the performance evaluation process and assists managers in developing employee performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Protects confidential employee, customer, and company information in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

           

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, OSHA requirements, workers' compensation, employee relations, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and payroll/benefit administration platforms.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with regular presence throughout manufacturing and production areas.
  • Ability to walk production floors, conduct safety observations, and participate in facility inspections.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • May be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while in manufacturing areas.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately during emergency situations and workplace incidents.
