Overall Purpose:
The Calibration Technician at Masterbilt Inc. will play a key role in ensuring that all measurement and testing equipment used in manufacturing processes is calibrated to meet stringent quality standards. You will oversee and execute the calibration processes for all measuring instruments and gaging equipment, ensuring that Masterbilt Inc. operates at the highest standards of accuracy and compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and Perform Calibrations: Manage external calibrations and perform internal calibrations on equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision tools.
  • Develop Calibration Procedures: Create and update internal calibration procedures, ensuring they reflect current standards and establishing criteria for new gages or measurement equipment.
  • Maintain Gage Management System: Utilize  electronic/web-based gage management software to track all measuring equipment and ensure timely calibration of all tools within the facility.
  • Repair & Replacement Coordination:      Identify broken or damaged gages and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • NIST Traceability: Ensure all calibrations,      whether internal or external, are NIST traceable, maintaining the highest      standard of accuracy and consistency in measurements.
  • Procure Measurement Equipment: Work with various departments to source and procure necessary gages and tools to support ongoing operations.
  • Set Up Gaging Equipment: Set up gaging systems for daily operations based on current production requirements, ensuring all measuring equipment is ready for use in manufacturing processes.
  • Calibration Due Diligence: Collect gages nearing their due date for calibration, managing the scheduling and performing of these calibrations to ensure no disruption in production.
  • Investigation Support: Collaborate with the      Quality and Operations teams to investigate and resolve issues if      measurement equipment is found to be out of tolerance during calibration.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in calibration methods to enhance quality,      efficiency, and delivery performance.
  • Blueprint Review: Read and interpret blueprints to ensure materials and components meet specified tolerances,      collaborating with other departments to address any quality concerns.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all calibration work adheres to Masterbilt Inc.'s safety protocols, reporting any unsafe conditions or potential hazards in the work environment.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the CNC Machinist, Maintenance, and Quality teams to ensure all gaging and measurement equipment is maintained to the highest standard,      minimizing downtime and improving operational efficiency.

Requirements

  

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; further certifications in metrology or calibration are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in metrology or calibration, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
    • Strong background in the use of precision measurement tools and gaging systems.
    • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards; experience with AS9000 or ISO 13485 is advantageous.
    • Experience in a CNC or machining environment is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly       Excel.
    • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and follow complex technical instructions.
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write calibration procedures and work instructions.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
    • Fundamental knowledge of CNC machining principles and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Other Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
    • Solid collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
    • Capacity for flexibility in managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
    • A positive, open-minded attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and learning.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for up to 2 hours at a time and sit for extended periods (6 hours per day).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels in the manufacturing environment, with occasional use of Personal Protective      Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with fluctuating temperatures.
  • Limited travel required (less than 5%).
