Custodian II

We are in need of a responsible custodian who will play a crucial role in maintaining and protecting our facilities and equipment. The external and internal appearance of a building is a reflection of the care and vigilance of its custodians. It is vital for a custodian, or janitor, to be meticulous and thorough in their work, ensuring the premises are clean, tidy, and free from vandalism. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in custodial roles, with a focus on building upkeep. They will possess great physical endurance to cover an ample space and a keen eye for detail and diligence, essential in custodial maintenance jobs.

Responsibilities

• 1. Behaves as a model worker in terms of personal appearance.
• 1. Performs general and advanced custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, strip and refinishing flooring, cleaning restrooms and restocking paper and soap supplies and building opening and closing procedures.
• 1. Empties trash receptacles, replaces liners and disposes trash into appropriate compactor/dumpster.
• 1. Reports observed supply needs and maintenance issues to appropriate MTJ staff member.
• 1. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• 1. Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine practices.
• 1. Performs cleaning functions specific to assigned location and/or based on project requirements (i.e. floor scrubbing, strip and refinish, carpet cleaning
• 1. Responsible for building opening and closing procedures (key maintenance).
• 1. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Skills

• Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness
• Very good physical condition and strength
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects (up to 50lbs)
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
• Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• A high school diploma is preferred but not required

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $18.00 per hour
