Full-Time | $50,000 – $70,000 per year | Monday – Friday
Position Summary
Master Steel seeks a qualified Recruiter to manage full-cycle recruitment for all positions within the company, including skilled shop trades, field personnel, and office and salaried staff. The Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, screening, and coordinating the selection, hiring, and onboarding of qualified candidates in support of company staffing objectives. This position reports to company leadership and works closely with Human Resources and hiring managers across all departments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Talent Sourcing & Job Postings
- Develop, post, and maintain job postings on Indeed and other platforms; ensure position descriptions, screening questions, and pay ranges remain current
- Source candidates for shop trades (fitters, welders, machine operators), field crews (ironworkers, erectors), and office and salaried positions (project managers, estimators, administrative staff)
- Develop candidate pipelines through trade schools, welding programs, job fairs, employee referrals, and direct outreach
- Maintain accurate candidate records and pipeline status in company tracking systems
Candidate Screening & Interview Coordination
- Review applications and resumes; conduct telephone screenings and provide written candidate summaries to hiring managers
- Schedule and coordinate interviews, including calendar coordination, reminders, and candidate communications
- Prepare hiring managers with resumes, interview guides, and evaluation scorecards in accordance with company interview guidelines
- Arrange travel and lodging for out-of-town candidates and process related expenses
Offers & Pre-Employment
- Assist in the preparation of offer packages; issue offer letters and track acceptance
- Coordinate reference checks, background checks, drug screenings, and pre-employment documentation
- Monitor candidate progress from offer acceptance through the first day of employment
Onboarding Coordination
- Coordinate onboarding logistics with Human Resources and office staff, including paperwork, system accounts, equipment, and first-day scheduling
- Communicate start-date information and arrival instructions to new hires
- Assist in scheduling 90-day reviews and new-hire check-ins
Recruiting Operations & Compliance
- Administer third-party recruiter relationships and agreements as required; monitor associated fees and performance
- Maintain recruiting metrics, including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and offer acceptance rates, and report results to leadership
- Ensure all recruiting activities comply with EEO requirements and company policy; maintain confidentiality of candidate and employee information
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recruiting experience (corporate or agency); full-cycle recruiting experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience recruiting skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, or industrial positions strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open positions concurrently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 and online job platforms
- Professional discretion in handling confidential candidate and employee information
- Valid driver's license required for occasional local travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Recruiting experience within steel fabrication, structural steel, or heavy construction
- Experience coordinating onboarding, pre-employment screening, or related human resources functions
- Working knowledge of EEO and employment compliance requirements
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment and requires regular sitting, standing, walking, computer use, and telephone communication
- Occasional exposure to shop and yard areas (personal protective equipment provided)
- Occasional lifting of materials and supplies up to 25 pounds
- Occasional local travel for job fairs, trade schools, and hiring events
Compensation & Schedule
- Full-time position reporting to company leadership
- Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with occasional early morning or evening hours for hiring events
- $50,000 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience
