Job Title: Automotive Technician III 

Classification: Non-Exempt  

Salary Range: $31-$40 /hour  

Reports To: Service Manager  

Position Type: Full Time  

Work Schedule: Varies

Job Summary: 

The Automotive Technician III is a senior-level role responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, heavy-line repairs, and specialized mechanical services on a variety of vehicles. This position is purely focused on hands-on technical work, tackling the most complex challenges including intricate electrical and drivability issues, diesel systems, and heavy-duty components. The Technician III ensures all repairs are performed with precision, efficiency, and to the highest standard of quality. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Focuses on purely mechanical repair and diagnostics.
  • Perform heavy-line repair services, including engine and transmission work.
  • Conduct complex drivability diagnostics and repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair intricate electrical systems.
  • Perform full diagnostics and repairs on auto HVAC systems.
  • Complete in-depth maintenance and repairs on diesel engines.
  • Service heavy-duty braking systems and heavy-duty steering and suspension systems.
  • Perform precise vehicle alignments.
  • Handle welding and exhaust repair tasks as needed.
  • Conduct detailed multi-point inspections to identify all necessary repairs.
  • Perform vehicle upfitting and modification for special projects.
  • Examine customer vehicles to identify necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Document all services performed accurately and efficiently.
  • Effectively utilize available technologies to diagnose and repair vehicles.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Participate in required training to stay current with new technology.
  • Record all hours worked accurately in the company timekeeping system.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

None  

 

Physical Demands: 

  • May work indoors or outdoors, but more commonly work indoors.
  • Are often exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment that result in cuts, bruises, or minor burns.
  • Work inside enclosed vehicles, such as buses and vans. Often working in cramped workspaces underneath vehicles that require getting into awkward positions.
  • Regularly wear protective gear, such as goggles or earplugs.
  • Are exposed to contaminants, such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers, on a daily basis.
  • Are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable on a daily basis.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Seven or more years of experience as an Automotive Technician.
  • Must have most tools to complete jobs.

Preferred Education/Experience/Certifications:  

  • ASE certifications are a plus.
  • DOT inspection license is a plus.
  • MVI license is a plus.
  • A/C certification is a plus.
  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement, or able to obtain in 6 months.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
