Master Reliability is seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Technician to support customer sites throughout the Midwest. This is a travel-based consulting position for an individual who enjoys solving complex equipment problems, improving maintenance systems, and working with manufacturing teams to increase equipment reliability.
Unlike traditional maintenance roles, this position focuses on identifying why equipment fails—not simply restoring it to operation.
The successful candidate will work alongside operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, and plant leadership to improve asset performance through diagnostics, preventive maintenance optimization, condition monitoring, and root cause analysis.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Investigate chronic equipment failures using Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Assist customers in improving PM programs and maintenance strategies.
- Support implementation of TPM, RCM, and reliability best practices.
- Conduct equipment inspections and condition assessments.
- Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM documentation.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (programming experience is a plus but not required).
- Document findings and provide detailed recommendations to customers.
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians on troubleshooting and equipment care.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve equipment performance.
- Travel to customer facilities throughout the Midwest as required.
- 5–10 years of industrial maintenance experience
- Automotive manufacturing
- Semiconductor manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Food & Beverage manufacturing
- High-speed automated production equipment
- Packaging systems
- Robotics and automation
- Precision manufacturing equipment
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience repairing industrial production equipment
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, servo, and motion control systems
- Experience with CMMS systems
- Preventive and Predictive Maintenance experience
- Root Cause Analysis experience
- Condition Monitoring experience
- Vibration, infrared, ultrasound, or oil analysis experience is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to travel to customer sites
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent industrial experience
