Position Overview:
The Transportation Manager is responsible for the overall performance of routes and Delivery Truck Drivers as it pertains to customer experience and meeting company performance standards. Expected competencies for the Transportation Manager include dependability, being action-oriented (proactive), able to effectively communicate with others, able to develop the skills of the Team Leaders and Delivery Truck Drivers, is customer-focused, and strives to increase technical skills and knowledge.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with Delivery Truck Driver performance review process. Identify inefficiency factors
- Provide mentorship / training on proper deliveries & customer service
- Work with the General Manager, Sales Department and interdepartmentally to manage supply chain logistics, including routing and truck utilization strategies to create greater efficiencies.
- Handle internal challenges and elevated external client complaints and strive to find proactive ways to reduce them
- Distribute the dispatch routing and all related information to the designated department representative in an accurate and timely manner
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the CTO
Additional Job Functions:
- Investigate customer complaints and resolve problems
- Ensure that all orders are accurate and loaded onto the delivery trucks
- Ensure compliance of DOT rules and regulations for hours of service, pre-post trip inspection, maintenance, and monitor delivery times against standards
- Assure delivery appointments are made in a timely manner to meet customer requirements
Working Conditions/Job Environment:
- Degrees of physical demands (strength) are usually associated with this position.
- Environmental conditions (physical surroundings and hazards) are usually associated with this position.
- Primary office and warehouse environments. Warehouses often have moving pallet jacks and forklifts in operation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification
- High School diploma or related experience is required
- Experience in fleet dispatching and routing internal fleet
- Experience with Roadnet, Omnitracs and Samsara a plus
- Valid driver’s license: dispatch, routing and/or driving experience is a strong plus
- Familiarity with Department of Transportation regulations including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Human Resource Management Systems, especially the Employee Time Management Systems

- Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics or related subject preferred
- 3- 5 years of related management experience
- Prior experience working in a Produce Distribution Center.
- Ability to influence clients and staff at all levels and “manage up” appropriately.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change in work assignments and priorities.
- Able to work the hours necessary to get the job done.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
