Job Summary
The Mechanic II is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles. This position supports and works with personnel within various departments
Responsibilities
- Inspect and repair company/utility equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, digger dericks, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner.
- Troubleshoot deisel and gas engines
- Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
- Place orders for required parts, materials and supplies, as required.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
- Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Minimum
- MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS; 1/4" up to 2"
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- CDL class A/B or ability to receive within 90 days of employment.
- 3 years of experience.
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to do tune-ups, engine work, hydraulic work, cylinder replacing, pressure setting for backhoe, basic engine repair, and electric repair.
- Basic diesel and drive train experience.
- Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
- Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
- Ability to work in inclement weather
- Ability to work schedule M - F; 7am - 5:30pm
- 4 or more years of experience.
- DOT Certified Flagger.
- CDL Class A license.
- Formal education or training in mechanical equipment repair.
- Air brake certification.
