Mastagni Holstedt, A.P.C. is actively seeking a highly qualified labor law associate attorney to join its growing Labor and Employment practice in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The ideal candidate will have at minimum two (2) years of relevant litigation experience. Experience in criminal law, employment, wage and hour, and/or public agency law highly preferred. The candidate must have litigation experience, preferably plaintiff side on employment cases and defendant on criminal matters. Administrative hearing experience is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding credentials and qualifications demonstrating a strong ability to spot and analyze complex issues and devise practical strategies and solutions. Candidates must be committed to client service, a quick learner, and have strong writing, organizational, research, and communication abilities. For decades, Mastagni Holstedt, A.P.C. has served clients throughout California in a wide array of legal matters, including but not limited to: criminal defense, labor and employment, contract negotiations, personal injury, auto accidents, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Verified California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
  • Licensed by and in good standing with the California Bar.
  • Ability to travel as case assignment warrants.
  • Excellent working knowledge of California and federal statutes, preferably including local labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience practicing as an attorney. Previous litigation experience, preferably related to plaintiff side employment law.
  • Demonstrated ability to review/advise on labor agreements, manage discovery, draft legal documents, and conduct research.
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Interest and aptitude to represent clients in contested forums ranging from jury trials, court trials, and arbitrations to before various public board forums and the state capitol.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive representation to clients (employees and/or unions) in employment matters, including but not limited to representation in administrative discipline cases, dismissals, grievance hearings, unfair labor practice charges, State Personnel Board appeals, arbitrations/mediations, and trials as required. Opportunities to represent clients in wage and hour disputes.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to clients on a variety of labor and employment issues and communicate with clients effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct legal research and factual investigation to prepare legal documents and develop strategies.
  • Drafting legal documents/pleadings and motions, taking and defending depositions or other investigatory interviews, drafting and answering discovery, drafting and responding to employment-related demand letters, negotiating employment-related settlement agreements, arbitration/trial preparation, advising related to collective bargaining negotiations/agreements.
  • Prepare for and attend court appearances as necessary.
  • Attend MCLE trainings and keep up-to-date with the latest legal developments affecting employment law.
  • Independently manages caseload and stays abreast of deadlines.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships, credibility and trust with clients, legal team members, and other colleagues.
  • Attend monthly client board meetings or other client events as required. Participation in a rotational 24/7 on-call schedule required.

Salary: $115,000 to $160,000 commensurate with experience
