Night Dispatcher (Transportation Experience Req'd)

Position Overview:
As a Night Dispatcher at Mast Trucking, you play a critical role in keeping overnight operations running smoothly. You are responsible for supporting drivers, identifying issues early, and making sound decisions that balance driver needs with business realities. This role requires steady judgment, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple situations at once while keeping operations and people moving in the right direction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle real-time issues overnight (late deliveries, breakdowns, HOS utilization, rescheduled appointments)

• Dispatch and adjust loads based on real-world constraints

• Make decisions that balance driver needs, service, and the business

• Track shipments to maintain on-time performance.

• Talk drivers through situations when they’re tired, frustrated, or stuck

• Leave clear, detailed handoff notes so the next shift isn’t guessing

• Maintain a high level of customer service and operational efficiency.

• Ask effective questions to fully understand situations before taking action

What Success Looks Like

• The morning team walks into a clean, controlled situation

• Drivers trust you and call you when things go wrong

• Problems are solved overnight, not passed along

• Your notes are clear enough that no one has to track you down for answers

• You start seeing patterns and prevent repeat issues

Qualifications:

• 1-5 years in trucking, dispatch, or transportation operations (required)

• Experience using TPS or other logistics software

• Driving experience is a plus
  

Key Skills:

• Consistently sound decision-making that supports both drivers and the business

• Emotional control when handling frustrated or tired drivers

• Ability to ask the right questions to gather accurate information

• Strong organization and follow-through, especially during high call volume

• Strong written communication, especially during shift handoffs

• Minimum of 1-5 years experience in logistics, preferably dispatch

• Proficient in using transportation management systems

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance
