Packaging Operator

Mast Landing Brewing Company is seeking a full-time experienced Packaging Operator to join the team. Mast Landing Brewing Company is in its tenth year of operation in Westbrook, ME (10 minutes outside Portland). Production at our 20,000 square foot facility continues to increase and we are looking to add a dedicated, hard-working professional to our team. This position comes with potential to grow with Mast Landing into Packaging Lead.

Reports to: Packaging Manager

Start Date: September 2026

Pay: $20-22 Dependent upon experience

Description:

This is an experienced position focused on operating the canning line and associated machinery; packaging kegs of beer; quality checks/quality assurance; cleaning; maintaining the production facility and equipment and other brewery tasks as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Packaging Operators work 10-hour days, 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) with opportunities for overtime. Starting hours are subject to change but the day generally begins at 6am.

Packaging Operator Job Responsibilities:

• Follow all safety guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Observe and maintain quality control standards.
• Master the ins and outs of operating an ABE canning line, labeler, and depalletizer
• Assist Packaging Manager with canning line changeovers
• Clean and fill kegs according to market allocations
• Occasionally operate bottling line
• Attend meetings to review safety, responsibilities & results
• Keep accurate records in brewing software and on paper
• Safely operate a pallet jack, forklift and other production equipment
• Perform extensive cleaning and sanitizing of the equipment and facility
• Work collaboratively with other brewery staff

Materials/Machines/Equipment Used:

• Automated packaging equipment
• Forklift
• Pallet jack
• A variety of hand and power tools
• Cleaning agents and other hazardous chemicals
• Tablet computer
• Touchscreen machine controls
• Compressed air or other gasses, including CO2, O2, and Nitrogen
• Other Materials/Machines/Equipment as needed
• Proper PPE and other safety equipment is provided

Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift 55 lbs. multiple times on a daily basis with or without assistance.
• Ability to work in extreme environments in both hot, cold, and wet areas.
• Work in tight areas while twisting, bending, pulling and pushing
• Stand on concrete floors for the duration of shift (10 hours)
• Frequently climb ladders and stairs safely on a daily basis

Packaging Operator Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a positive attitude
• Demonstrated problem solving/analytical ability
• Strong communication, interpersonal and team work skills
• Ability to focus on quality and dedication and doing things correctly rather than cutting corners
• Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to think on your feet and adapt. Flexibility is key!
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to assist with tasks outside key responsibilities
• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years experience with automated packaging equipment preferred
• Experience with double-seamed cans and canning equipment highly desirable
